Our commitment to making SISMA accessible to everyone
SISMA aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
SISMA is dedicated to ensuring that our website and digital services are accessible to people of all abilities, including those using assistive technologies.
We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across all public-facing content.
Accessibility improvements are an ongoing priority for our volunteer team.
All images include descriptive alt text for screen reader users.
All interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) are keyboard-navigable and have visible focus indicators.
Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
The website is tested with modern screen readers and mobile assistive technologies.
Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
SISMA aims to hold events at accessible venues wherever possible.
Members requiring specific accessibility accommodations for events (e.g. wheelchair access, hearing loops, language support) are encouraged to contact the Secretary at least 7 days before the event.
SISMA is a 100% volunteer-run organisation. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate requests.
Official communications are sent via email and official communication channels in plain, clear language.
Members who require communications in an alternative format should contact the Secretary to discuss options.

The member portal is built with accessibility in mind, supporting keyboard navigation and screen readers throughout.
Forms include labelled inputs and clear error messages.
The portal is mobile-responsive for members accessing via smartphones or tablets.
We acknowledge the following known accessibility limitations that we are working to address:
Some older PDF documents (e.g. historical event flyers) may not be fully accessible. Text alternatives will be provided on request.
Third-party embedded content (e.g. maps, external event platforms) is outside our direct control.
We welcome feedback about the accessibility of our website and services.
If you experience issues or have suggestions: Email: info@sisma.org.au We aim to respond within 5 business days.
